The Edwards family has been farming at Redlingfield since the 1800's and this wonderful
timber-framed barn has been central to its many agricultural enterprises over the decades. As the barn slowly became redundant,
Trevor and Anita Edwards took the opportunity to move this unique building into the 21st century by the establishment of a
luxury swimming pool complex. A sympathetic Conservation Officer permitted the moving of an ancient threshing floor to the
viewing area beside the pool, and the wagon doors became full height windows so that daylight floods in throughout the day.
Swimmers can enjoy the view of the carefully restored rafters as they swim below. Adjoining changing rooms arose from the restoration of further
single-story buildings around a car-parking area.
This creates a pleasing courtyard effect which is further enhanced by the use of timber cladding and reclaimed pan-tile roofing,
all in keeping with the barns' rural Suffolk history.
This luxury pool measures 40 feet long by 15 feet wide, with a uniform depth of 4 feet 6 inches, and provides perfect swimming for those seeking either exercise or family fun. Comfort is ensured by under-floor heating throughout, totally private changing-rooms are equipped with showers and hairdryers, and disabled facilities extend to semi-circular steps ensuring easy access for all. The water management is based on continuous ozone cleaning, which results in a low use of chlorine to provide a better swimming experience. The water temperature of 90-91 degrees F. is warmly welcomed!
